New telepsychology resources available for psychologists and consumers with disabilities

By Lawrence Pick, PhD

The APA Committee on Disability Issues in Psychology (CDIP) continues to explore the intersection of emerging technologies and psychological practice with individuals with disabilities. As a result of these efforts, CDIP has developed a tip sheet for use by psychologists working with individuals with disabilities, as well as a tip sheet for consumers with disabilities. The tip sheet for psychologists provides information regarding the provision of telepsychology practice when working with individuals with disabilities, and related ethical and professional considerations. The second resource informs consumers about telepsychology services and provides guidance regarding questions they may want to ask their psychologist.

Anticipated release of the tip sheets will be summer 2013. Tip sheets will be available at APA's 2013 Annual Convention, July 31-Aug. 4, in Honolulu and posted on the Disability Issues Office.
