Graduate Faculty in Psychology Interested in Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgender Issues 2009 Survey Results Posted

In the Spring of 2009, the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgender Concerns Office, in conjunction with APA’s Center for Workforce Studies, conducted a survey about graduate faculty in psychology interested in lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender issues. The survey is designed to assist students interested in such issues to identify programs and faculty advisors with whom they might like to work in graduate school. View results here.

Best Practices for Asking Questions about Sexual Orientation on Surveys – November 2009

This report presents the findings from a multi-year effort of an expert panel of scholars, the Sexual Minority Assessment Research Team (SMART) to identify the best practices for asking questions about sexual orientation on surveys. This document is the culmination of the work of this expert panel. The following APA Members drafted sections of the report, met to discuss and refine the drafts, and revised and commented on later drafts:

Adoption by Gay & Lesbian Parents in Florida

In June 2009, the APA filed an amicus brief in In re Matter of Adoption of X. X. G. and N. R. G., a case challenging a Florida statute prohibiting adoption by gay or lesbian persons.
