POLICY & ADVOCACY Graduate Students in Psychology American Psychological Association of Graduate Students (APAGS) Committee on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Concerns (CLGBTC) represents and advocates for the unique concerns and needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) students in psychology. Information for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Students Listserv APAGSLGBT, is a forum for students to discuss issues relevant to LGBT concerns in psychology Research grants and scholarships Malyon-Smith Scholarship Award annually awards up to $1000 to selected graduate students in psychology to advance research in the psychology of sexual orientation and gender identity. Bisexual Foundation Scholarship Award annually awards up to $1000 per award to selected graduate students to advance research on the psychology of bisexuality. Dr. Richard A. Rodriguez Division 44 Student Travel Award encourages greater participation in Division 44 annual convention activities by LGBT students of color. Distinguished Student Contribution The Division 44 offers this award to a graduate student in psychology who has made a distinguished contribution to research or practice, or who has performed exceptional service to the Division. Joint APA Ethics and Division 44 Student Travel Award for NMCS, the award promotes greater participation of LGBT graduate students of color in the National Multicultural Conference and Summit (NMCS), and encourages exploration of ethical issues that may arise in research, teaching, consultation, and clinical work with LGBT people of color. Wayne F. Placek Award encourages scientific research to increase the general public's understanding of homosexuality and to alleviate the stress that gay men and lesbians experience. Wayne F. Placek Small Grant Award encourages small-scale scientific research on lesbian, gay, and bisexual issues. Roy Scrivner Research Small Grant Award supports empirical research focused on lesbian, gay, and bisexual family psychology and family therapy. Graduate Faculty in Psychology Interested in Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgender Issues 2009 Results of a survey of graduate programs in psychology reports those programs with courses, research, professional training, or positive climate related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender issues and students. |
