Summer Public Health Research Videoconference and Institute on Minority Health is held at Truman Community College.

Fall Semester
Biopsychology class is developed at Truman Community College. Twenty-four students enroll.

Psychology 365 course begins at the University of Miami. Seventeen students enroll in the class. Eleven are ethnic minorities.

Prince George's Community College holds a "Science, Technology, and Research Training" (START) conference.

May 7, 1999
APA submits an addendum to the competitive renewal application to the NIGMS Minority Access to Research Careers Branch (MARC) Review Subcommittee.

May 21, 1999
The first cohort of UCLA APA/NIGMS Scholars give their final research presentations.
