Alberto Figueroa-García Receives Diversity Recognition Award

Alberto Figueroa-García, Assistant Director of the APA Office of Ethnic Minority Affairs receives award from Dr. Melba Vasquez, APA Past-PresidentThe Committee of State Leaders (CSL) Diversity Delegates Initiative of the State Leadership Conference (SLC), Recognition and Dinner Working Group honored and recognized Alberto Figueroa-García, assistant director of the APA Office of Ethnic Minority Affairs (OEMA) for his outstanding contributions and the work he has done over the years in support of the CSL/SLC diversity initiatives. According to Working Group co-chairpersons, Mabel S. Lam, PhD, and Phyllis Bolling, PhD, Figueroa-García’s “behind-the-scenes hard work has not gone unnoticed!”

The Diversity Delegates Recognition Dinner took place on Friday, March 9, 2012, at Tony Chang’s restaurant in Washington, D.C. The award was presented by Melba Vasquez, PhD, APA past-president, and presentation ceremony included remarks by Vasquez, a letter from Jennifer Kelly, PhD, APA Board of Directors, read by Kathy McDaniel-Wilson, PhD, and statements by Gwendolyn P. Keita, PhD, executive director, Public Interest Directorate, and Tiffany G. Townsend, PhD, OEMA senior director.
