Leadership Institute for Women in Psychology

Mission

The mission of the APA Leadership Institute for Women in Psychology (LIWP) is to prepare, support and empower women psychologists as leaders to promote positive changes in institutional, organizational and practice settings as well as APA governance, and increase the diversity, number and effectiveness of women psychologists as leaders. A major focus of the Institute is to ensure that leadership training opportunities are available for mid-career and senior women psychologists in all of their diversities.

Currently, the APA CWP Leadership Institute for Women in Psychology has been made possible by the generous support of the APA Women's Programs Office, the Society for the Psychology of Women, and the APA Commission on Ethnic Minority Recruitment, Retention and Training in Psychology. Support in previous years has been provided by the APA Board of Directors, the APA Council of Representatives, the Women's Caucus of the APA Council of Representatives, the National Institutes of Health Office of Research on Women's Health, Psychologists in Independent Practice, the Society for the Psychological Study of Ethnic Minority Psychology, and the Society for the Psychological Study of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Issues.
