Sandra L. Shullman, PhD

Sandra L. Shullman, PhDSandra L. Shullman, PhD, is a member of the Leadership Institute for Women in Psychology and is the Managing Partner of the Columbus Office of the Executive Development Group, an international leadership development and consulting firm.  She received her undergraduate and master’s degrees from Dickinson College and Harvard University, and her PhD in counseling psychology from The Ohio State University, where she previously served as part of the University administration as Assistant Dean of Students.  During that same time, Sandy was a co-founder of the Women’s Studies Program at Ohio State.

She was formerly Senior Partner and President of Organizational Horizons, Inc., a regionally based consulting and behavioral healthcare firm.  Sandy has also directed Managerial Effectiveness Programs at the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, North Carolina, and served as Senior Consultant and Director of Research for a management consulting organization in Charlotte, North Carolina.  In addition, she was Program Director of the PhD training program in Counseling Psychology at Kent State University.

Dr. Shullman is a nationally known organizational consultant and has written and presented extensively on the topics of performance appraisal, performance management, strategic succession planning, career development, management of self-esteem and motivation, team building, diversity management, sexual harassment, AIDS, and the management of individual, organizational and systems change strategies.  She is well known for her work related to executive assessment and development and co-authored Performance Appraisal on the Line.  She is currently working on a book on executive coaching.

Sandy is Past President of the Ohio Psychological Association and has served nationally on the Board of Directors of the American Psychological Association, where she also chaired the APA Work Group on Executive Coaching and the Board of Professional Affairs.  She is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the American Psychological Foundation and a member of the Board for the Advancement of Psychology in the Public Interest.  Sandy is the immediate past-Chair of the Women’s Caucus of the Council of Representatives.

Dr. Shullman currently serves on the graduate faculty for the Diversity Management Program in the Psychology Department at Cleveland State University and is part of the Global Learning Resource Network for Duke Corporate Education.  She presents regularly in the Executive MBA Program at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and presented for over 15 years at the John Glenn School for Public Policy and Management at the Ohio State University.  She has been involved in assessment-for-development work since 1976 and has worked with managers and leaders from many parts of the world in both U.S. and international locations.
