Student/Resident Experiences And Rotations in Community Health (SEARCH)
The Student/Resident Experiences And Rotations in Community Health (SEARCH) program provides health professions students and residents with a unique, hands-on primary care training experience working with the underserved population in many rural and urban settings. Nearly all sites are located in health professional shortage areas and are part of the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) network of primary care associations and offices.
The experience gained by students and residents who participate in SEARCH is a great starting point for a long career in the health profession. Individuals will be trained in culturally diverse community-based systems of care and work with patients and communities to help them make beneficial health decisions. The will gain cultural competency and learn about community-responsive health care.
To qualify for the SEARCH program, you must have started your training as a physician, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, certified nurse-midwife, dentist, dental hygienist, or mental and behavioral health professionals, including health service psychologist, clinical social worker, licensed professional counselor, marriage and family therapist, and psychiatric nurse specialist. Students who have NHSC scholarships are given priority for the SEARCH program.
