In addition to providing critical mental health services to U.S. military
personnel and their families, psychologists address many critical issues and
problems vital to our national security through research for the Department of
Defense. Research psychologists' expertise in understanding and optimizing human
performance, human-technology interactions, and the well-being of military
personnel and their families has become even more mission-critical in these
dangerous times. Four distinguished psychological scientists will highlight the
role of psychology in military operations and examine how research can address
ongoing needs for more effective equipment, services for Prisoners of War, and
family support.
