APA's Health-Care Reform Priorities

APA believes that health-care reform should be about more than insuring the uninsured. Reform should also transform the way health-care is delivered. Because behavioral factors contribute to six of the 10 leading causes of death, psychology has a key role to play in improving the nation's health.

APA’s eight health-care reform priorities include integrating psychological care into primary care, ensuring access to services, developing a diverse psychology workforce, including psychological services in benefit plans, eliminating disparities, increasing research funding, ensuring privacy of medical records and enhancing consumer involvement.
