Public Interest Government Relations Office (PI-GRO) staff worked closely with expert APA members to develop comprehensive, APA-wide recommendations for the upcoming reauthorization of the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA). These recommendations address:
the definition of neglect; the prevention of child abuse and neglect;
children and families with disabilities;
children aged birth to five years of age in the child welfare system;
interagency collaboration, including between child protective services and domestic violence services; and
cultural competence.
PI-GRO staff will continue to work closely with key congressional offices through the reauthorization process to ensure that APA's priorities are properly addressed. View the full recommendations.
