APA produces psychotherapy training videos for clinical training and continuing education. They provide psychology students and practitioners with expert introductions to various therapeutic approaches and hands-on knowledge of how to treat particular patient issues.
In each video a psychotherapist demonstrates a way of conducting psychotherapy. In addition, in interviews, the therapists discuss the approach taken in the session, as well as reactions and thoughts on how the session went.
The APA videos can be used in several ways:
- A stand-alone activity for professional development or orientation to specific psychotherapeutic approaches and issues
- A valuable supplement to a class dealing with this approach on these client issues
- Group training in clinical agencies or educational settings
- A forum for a series of class sections or a workshop for professional development or continuing education.
The Psychotherapy video series is intended solely for educational purposes for mental health professions. Viewers are expected to treat confidential material found herein according to strict professional guidelines. Unauthorized viewing is prohibited. Use in university settings is limited to viewing in class by Master level students, PhD students, and PsyD students in clinical training and by faculty.
