Over the course of its existence, Psychotherapy has published under three names.

Journal History

  • Psychotherapy: Theory, Research and Practice, Vols. 1–20, 1963–1983

  • Psychotherapy: Theory/Research/Practice/Training, Vols. 21–39, 1984–2002

  • Psychotherapy: Theory, Research, Practice, Training, Vols. 40–47, 2003–2010

Although the name has changed, the Library of Congress determined that the title change is not substantive enough to require new ISSNs.
