AIIP, PsycINFO: What's In It for Me? April 2014 (PowerPoint, 11.8MB)
In this session, PsycINFO training staff presented real world examples and examined methods of finding practical multidisciplinary research relevant to fields as varied as forensics, nutrition, bioethics, law, health, social work, economics and marketing. It was presented at the Association of Independent Information Professionals Annual Conference on April 4, 2014.

This session provided news and updates about APA databases and electronic products, including sample searches on each of the major vendor platforms. Some of the new journals debuting in 2014 were discussed, as well as mobile access to APA content and a variety of new training materials. It was presented at the American Library Association Midwinter Meeting and Exhibits on January 27, 2014.

Using PsycTESTS, APA Convention, August 2013 (PowerPoint, 5.9MB)
Building on previous sessions, this session on PsycTESTS on the APA PsycNET platform took a quick look at the structure and history of the database, with an emphasis on its extraordinary growth from less than 3,000 records at launch in late 2011 to more than 15,000 less than 2 years later. We also discussed how PsycTESTS may be practically applied in a research methods context and by a researcher building on existing measures in the published literature. It was presented at the APA Convention in August 2013.

In this session we presented an introduction to APA's overall mission, as well as the publishing program. Search demos on the major vendor platforms included a closer look at PsycARTICLES, and exploration of a refresh of PsycEXTRA. We also covered how corrections and retractions are handled. It was presented at the American Library Association Annual Conference and Exhibition on July 1, 2013.

In this session we presented an overview of APA's health sciences-focused resources for research, patient education, and clinical practice. Search demos featured PsycTESTS on the OvidSP platform, and the APA Handbooks on the APA PsycNET platform. Additional examples explored materials in PsycEXTRA and the methodology limiter on PsycINFO on the major vendor platforms. An expanded section on training materials was also provided. It was presented at the One Health/Medical Library Association Annual Meeting and Exhibition on May 6, 2013.

ACRL Lunch & Learn, April 2013 (PowerPoint, 5.6MB)
In this session, we provided brief updates on APA's databases and electronic products, and focused on our training and support materials. We discussed materials geared toward use in bibliographic instruction programs, and others that can help bridge the gap at a student or faculty member's point of need. Sample searches included demonstrations by two librarians who regularly include APA's databases in their instruction sessions. It was presented at the Association of College and Research Libraries conference on April 11, 2013.

Search demos explored the major vendor platforms, and included scenarios demonstrating how PsycTESTS and PsycTHERAPY might be used by researchers and clinical psychology students. Information on training materials was also provided. It was presented at the American Library Association Annual Conference and Exhibition on June 25, 2012.

AIIP - Psychology Is Everywhere (or Behavioral Science at the Movies), May 2012
In this presentation, Customer Relations staff gave news and updates on APA's publishing program with a focus on multidisciplinary content, behavioral problem solving, and multiple forms of access. The presentation also provided search examples that use movie scenarios to focus on integrating discovery into the search process using APA PsycNET. It was presented at the Association of Independent Information Professionals on May 2, 2012.

In this session we presented updates on all of the APA databases. Search demos included PsycTESTS on the APA PsycNET and OvidSP platforms as well as PsycTHERAPY. Additional search examples explored PsycINFO and PsycEXTRA on the major vendor platforms. Information on training materials was also provided. It was presented at the American Library Association Midwinter Meeting on January 23, 2012.
