Criteria for attaining life-status membership remain in place

APA members voted to defeat a bylaws amendment that would have altered guidelines for dues exemption. APA sent the bylaws amendment ballot with the 2011 apportionment ballot for legislative year 2013 to all eligible voters on Nov. 1, 2011.

The election results were 43.37 percent (3,744 votes) to approve the amendments, while 56.63 percent (4,888 votes) did not approve. A bylaws amendment requires a two-thirds vote.

An article in the October Monitor on Psychology provided a summary of proposed changes in the now defeated amendments.
