APF Dorothy W. Cantor Fund now supports APA Leadership Institute for Women in Psychology

$100,000 contribution will help build a source of ongoing revenue for APA’s program supporting women psychologists.

The APA Leadership Institute for Women in Psychology (LIWP) has received a gift of $70,000 from the American Psychological Foundation (APF) Dorothy W. Cantor Fund and a commitment for an additional $30,000 by the end of 2012. In recognition of this generous and substantial gift, the fund has been renamed The Dorothy W. Cantor APF Leadership Institute for Women in Psychology Fund.

The fund was established in January 2011 to support the LIWP program, which prepares women psychologists as leaders to promote positive changes in institutional, organizational and practice settings as well as in APA and state, provincial and territorial association governance. In addition, the program seeks to increase the diversity, number and effectiveness of women psychologists as leaders. So far, more than 100 women have participated in the program.

The APA Committee on Women in Psychology established the LIWP in 2007. Learn more about the program on the webpage.
