APA’s Committee on Early Career Psychologists plans to help convention attendees balance the roles of professional and parent by leading several family-friendly activities and services in Orlando, Fla.:
The APA "Kids' Place," in room 206 in the Orange County Convention Center, will offer comfortable seating for parents and an entertainment/play area for children featuring story-telling, movie time, face painting, video games for older children and more. The room will be open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday only, with special events for kids on Friday and Saturday. Please note that children must be accompanied by a parent at all times.
APA’s discounted tickets to the Disney theme parks, including ones that allow entry after 2 p.m. or after 4 p.m. so that attendees can spend the morning at the convention and then go to the parks in the late afternoon or evening.
Parents who require child care during the convention may make arrangements with child care services in Orlando, Fla.
A break lounge, located in aisle 100 of the exhibit hall, will offer free seated massages for adults.
The Committee on Early Career Psychologists will host a special symposium for parents, “Psychologist and Parent: Seeking a Healthy Balance,” on Friday, Aug. 3, at 2 p.m. in room W106 of the convention center.
