Publication manual claims top spot on Amazon.com best sellers list

The sixth edition of the “Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association” remains in high demand.

2012-09-11-access-manualThe sixth edition of the “Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association” captured the No. 1 spot last month on Amazon.com’s “top 100” list of best-selling books in all categories. The manual surpassed multiple editions of “Fifty Shades of Grey” as well as other style references, such as “The MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers, Seventh Edition.”

The publication manual, across all of its editions, has been the definitive reference for scientific writing in the behavioral and social sciences for more than 80 years. “Our end goal is to help readers enhance their writing skills and to achieve academic and professional success,” said APA Books Editorial Director Mary Lynn Skutley. “With this edition, we’ve reached out to our audience on the APA Style Blog and on Facebook, Google+ and Twitter. We’re very grateful for our readers’ loyalty.”

Consistently generating exceptionally strong sales since its release in July 2009, and having cumulatively spent more than 1,000 days in Amazon.com’s “top 100” list since then, the sixth edition of the manual is in its sixth printing with more than 250,000 copies sold this year.

August is typically the time of heaviest sales for the manual as students return to school for the fall term.
