APA partners with Mental Health America for wellness conference

The 2013 conference on June 5-8 in National Harbor, Md., will focus on understanding the relationship between health and wellness.

APA will help promote Mental Health America’s 2013 annual conference “Why Wellness Works: Breakthrough and Pathways to Whole Health,” June 5-8 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Md.

The conference will present strategies for achieving whole health and wellness for people with and without mental-health and substance-use disorders. Keynote speakers include Geoffrey Canada, president and CEO of the Harlem Children's Zone; James Prochaska, PhD, director of the Cancer Prevention Research Center; and David Granirer, counselor, comic, author and founder of Stand Up for Mental Health. The conference will also feature national experts who will address the latest developments in the fields of health and wellness and their impact on and relationship to schools, workplaces, families, communities and people with mental illnesses and co-occurring disorders.
