Activating a public message to Congress in support of low interest rates on student loans

An APA advocacy alert led to thousands of letters of support to elected officials.

An advocacy action alert organized by APAGS and APA’s Education Government Relations Office in June reminded members of Congress that graduate study should remain accessible and affordable, and that graduate students should have the lowest possible interest rates on federal student loans.

The advocacy alert generated nearly 5,000 letters of support from psychologists and recent psychology doctorate graduates who have high debts compared to other professions.
