TONY HABASH SELECTED AS THE NEW CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER FOR THE AMERICAN PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION

WASHINGTON, DC—The American Psychological Association (APA) recently announced the hiring of its newest executive, Tony Habash, D.Sc, as the Chief Information Officer (CIO). Habash will lead the association's IT strategy and operations, including all core business systems development.

Habash comes to APA with more than 17 years of progressive leadership in information technology strategic planning, program management and IT business alignment. Habash’s most recent position was the Director of IT Strategy and Planning for AARP where he was responsible for developing the business/IT alignment processes and practices. He also instituted a program of IT delivery methods that doubled project delivery capacity and increased quality of services.  Habash also held the position of the acting CIO for AARP where he oversaw the provision of IT services to the organization and set the IT strategy and vision.

As the CIO, Habash will head APA's information technology office and will help the association more fully use technology to provide member services.

Habash received his Doctoral of Science in Information Management & Information Systems from the George Washington University in 1998. In addition to becoming the new CIO, Habash is also an adjunct graduate instructor at the George Washington University where he taught multiple graduate-level courses at the School of Engineering & Applied Sciences.
