January 2004 Announcements
Recipients
of the 2003 Meritorious Research Service Commendation

The recipients of the 2003 Meritorious Research Service Commendation were honored
at the December 2003 meeting of the APA Board of Directors. The award was developed
by the Board of Scientific Affairs (BSA) to recognize those unsung but outstanding
psychologists in the federal government who advance the discipline by their
programmatic activities-typically by fostering the research of others. This
commendation recognizes the important contributions to the discipline that these
psychologists make by identifying funding streams, developing new directions,
and fostering research opportunities. Nominations for the 2004 Meritorious Research
Service Commendations are now being solicited and the deadline for submission
is March 8, 2004. Please see the list of announcements for details. From left
to right:
Robert J. Sternberg, APA president; Peter G. Kaufmann, Lisa S. Onken,
Edgar M. Johnson, Delores L. Parron, Steven J. Breckler, and Norman B. Anderson,
APA Chief Executive Officer.
