  • Intelligence: Intelligence: Knowns and Unknowns -- Report from the APA Task Force Report on Intelligence (press release)
    Intelligence: Knowns and Unknowns (1996) was written by APA's Task Force on Intelligence as a dispassionate and authoritative report in response to the fall 1994 publication of Herrnstein and Murray's The Bell Curve, a controversial book which sparked intense debate about the meaning of intelligence test scores and the nature of intelligence itself. 
     
  • Lectures on scientific psychology: Distinguished Scientist Lecturer Program
    An annual program which sends 2-4 outstanding psychological scientists to the annual meetings of the APA-affiliated regional psychological associations to present their research; the scientists selected for this honor are excellent public speakers who are also actively engaged in psychological research.

  • Statistics: Task Force on Statistical Inference (TFSI) Reports 
    The first report addresses two important issues issues: 1) the role of null hypothesis significance testing in psychological research; and 2) the modification of current practice in the quantitative treatment of data in the science of psychology. The follow-up report, Statistical Methods in Psychology Journals: Guidelines and Explanations, was developed as a means of initiating discussion in the field regarding changes in current practices of data analysis and reporting.

  • Undergraduate students: Summer Science Institute; Undergraduate research opportunities & internships
    The APA Summer Science Institute (SSI) is a 9-day, all-expenses-paid intensive program designed to immerse students in the science of psychology, facilitate exploration of the intellectual, personal, and social processes of scientific inquiry, and provide experience with cutting-edge psychological research through seminars and hands-on laboratory activities.
