Mark Savickas, PhD, is professor and chair in the behavioral sciences department at the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine and adjunct professor of counselor education at Kent State University. His 70 articles, 23 book chapters, and 500 presentations to professional groups have dealt with vocational behavior and career counseling. He is a member of the board of directors for the International Association for Educational and Vocational Guidance. He has served as editor for the Career Development Quarterly (1991–1998) and is currently editor for the Journal of Vocational Behavior. He also serves on editorial boards for the Journal of Counseling Psychology, Journal of Career Assessment, International Journal for Educational and Vocational Guidance, Australian Journal of Career Development, the British Journal of Guidance and Counselling, L'Orientation Scolaire et Professionnelle (France), and the Educational Research Journal (Hong Kong). He edited Convergence in Career Development Theories (with R. Lent, 1994), Handbook of Career Counseling Theory and Practice (with B. Walsh, 1996), Vocational Interests (with A. Spokane, 1999), and Handbook of Vocational Psychology (with B. Walsh, 2005). In 1994, he received the John L. Holland Award for Outstanding Achievement in Career and Personality Research from the Division 17 (Society of Counseling Psychology) of the American Psychological Association. In 1996, he received the Eminent Career Award from the National Career Development Association. |
