Currently, Dr. Albano is a principal investigator of the large multicenter clinical trial, Child/Adolescent Anxiety Multimodal Study, funded by the National Institute of Mental Health, examining the efficacy of cognitive–behavioral and medication treatments for youth ages 7 to 17 with anxiety disorders. She was also a principal investigator on the recently completed Treatments for Adolescents with Depression Study, which was also funded by the National Institute of Mental Health.

Her research interests center around anxiety and depression in children, adolescents, and young adults, with a particular emphasis on developing and disseminating effective treatments.
