The American Psychological Association Psychotherapy Video Series presents distinguished psychologists demonstrating how to work with some of the most challenging problems faced by today's teachers and students. Designed for clinical training and continuing education, these videos were created to provide psychology students and practitioners with expert introductions to treating issues in a school-based setting.
Hosted by Dr. Jon Carlson, this series covers not only school-oriented issues that educational counselors may encounter but also family and personal issues about which students and teachers may come to a school counselor. Each video presents
- a provocative discussion between the series host and a leading expert who works regularly with the approach under consideration;
- an actual therapy session with a real client and the featured therapist, demonstrating how to work with clients using this approach; and
- a lively question-and-answer exchange between Dr. Carlson and the featured therapist reviewing the session and explaining how the therapist's approach was put into practice.
Many DVDs have a bonus feature: a voiceover track with the therapist's commentary that may be played while watching the therapy session for further insight into the therapist's approach.
