APA's Chief Financial Officer

Archie L. Turner: APA's Chief Financial OfficerArchie L. Turner is the chief financial officer for the American Psychological Association. He oversees all accounting and financial reporting, budgeting, business systems, real estate management and financing, human resources and contract and grant administration.

Before joining APA in 2008, Turner spent 14 years as CFO for the National Academies, which include the National Academy of Sciences, Institute of Medicine, National Academy of Engineering and National Research Council. The academies are private, nonprofit organizations with a combined annual budget of $265 million and 1300 employees.

At APA, a nonprofit organization employing more than 600 people, Turner oversees an annual budget of approximately $115 million. He also serves as the senior staff to the Finance Committee, as well as the Investment and Audit subcommittees.

Turner's previous experience includes vice president for finance and administration of the Albany Medical Center in Albany, N.Y., and director of health care and higher education at the Coopers and Lybrand consulting firm in Washington, D.C.

Turner received a bachelor’s in finance from Michigan State University in 1972.
