APA Member Addresses Congressional Panel on Indian Health Service Funding
Represents dozens of individuals and organizations
April 8, 2014, Jacqueline Gray, PhD, a member of APA's Committee on Rural Health and divisions 17, 18, 35 and 45, testified before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations' Subcommittee on the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies. Gray's testimony addressed (PDF, 28KB) the need for funding for the Indian Health Service. Gray testified on behalf of the Friends of Indian Health coalition, which comprises more than 50 individuals and health organizations, including APA, dedicated to improving the health care of American Indian/Alaska Natives (AI/ANs) to the highest levels. Gray and APA staff also met with Sen. Heidi Heitkamp, D-N.D., about the testimony and other topics concerning AI/AN health.
