Looking for a way to serve the profession of psychology? Become an accreditation site visitor. A significant strength of specialized accreditation is that it is, indeed, a peer review process requiring the professional knowledge of experts in the profession and discipline. Given the diversity of training and program aims, it is vital that the Commission on Accreditation (CoA) has a robust cadre of site visitors to provide effective and appropriate observations.
Recruitment of site visitors is especially vital as we transition from the Guidelines and Principles for Accreditation of Professional Psychology to the Standards of Accreditation for Health Service Psychology (SoA). The CoA is actively seeking new site visitors for all levels of training. In particular, the CoA has a significant need for additional internship and postdoctoral site visitors, as well as generalist site visitors (i.e., individuals from areas of psychology outside the scope of accreditation). For more information on how to become a site visitor or to nominate yourself or a colleague, please visit the Becoming an APA Site Visitor webpage.
Please check the updated list of upcoming workshops for upcoming training sessions. CoA is currently in the process of creating a series of online training modules to train site visitors remotely. Until those are available, current site visitors will be able to watch a prerecorded SoA webinar prior to completing a SoA-based site visit. More information on these webinars will be communicated directly to site visitors.
For more information on how to become a site visitor or be retrained as a site visitor under the SoA, please contact the Office of Program Consultation and Accreditation via email or at (202) 336-5979.
