Three of the current commissioners are completing their terms of service in December 2017 and were recognized by the Commission on Accreditation (CoA) at the 2017 Fall Program Review Meeting for their contributions to the commission. The three commissioners rotating off the CoA are:
- Kurt Freeman, PhD, ABPP, has held one of the seats nominated by the APPIC-Training Communities CoA Nominations Committee for the last three years and before this served in an open commission seat, with an overall tenure on the CoA of six years (2012-17). Freeman is the training director for the Division of Psychology, director of his institute's interdisciplinary training program, and a professor of pediatrics and psychiatry at Oregon Health & Science University.
- James “Jim” C. Denniston, PhD, a faculty member at Appalachian State University, has served as a commissioner holding one of the seats nominated by the Council of Graduate Departments of Psychology (COGDOP). He has served on the CoA for the last three years (2015-17).
- Ashley E. Maynard, PhD, has held a seat nominated by COGDOP for the last three years (2015-17). A cultural psychologist, she is on faculty at the University of Hawaii at Mãnoa, where she holds the rank of professor.
These three commissioners are thanked for their terms of service and recognized for their expertise and contribution to the work of the commission.
The CoA includes 32 members and care is taken to achieve appropriate balance between academic institutions and programs, practitioners of the profession and the public served by accreditation.
