Description
This intermediate workshop provides an overview of integrative behavioral couple therapy (IBCT), an evidence-based treatment for couples developed and tested with federal grant support. The presenter, the co-developer of IBCT, describes IBCT, shows video clips of couples during IBCT to illustrate treatment strategies, and answers participants’ questions. Because of its empirical base, IBCT has been adopted by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as one of its evidence-based treatments, and the Administration for Children & Families is currently funding a research program examining the efficacy of an IBCT-based online program for low-income and military couples.
Webinars are converted to video on-demand programs with closed captioning after the live air date.
Learning Objectives
- Describe the DEEP conceptualization of couple problems in IBCT.
- Discuss the evaluation and feedback procedures in IBCT.
- Compare the core treatment strategies of “empathic joining” and “unified detachment” in IBCT.
