Up to $43,680 for services to racial and ethnic-minority communities

Up to $43,680 for services to racial and ethnic-minority communities Graduate students can apply to the APA Minority Fellowship Program, which offers a postdoctoral Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services Fellowship of up to $43,680 for a trainee providing services and/or developing policy for racially and ethnically diverse communities; a predoctoral Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services Fellowship of up to $22,476 for a student providing services for racially and ethnically diverse communities; and a Services for Transition Age Youth Fellowship of up to $6,000 for individuals in a terminal master's program who provide services for racial and ethnic-minority youth ages 16-25 and their families. Apply by Jan. 15. 

Up to $50,000 for research on giftedness

Graduate students and early career psychologists who are conducting research on gifted and talented children and adolescents can apply for funding through the American Psychological Foundation's Esther Katz Rosen Fund, which offers grants of up to $50,000. Apply by March 1.

$20,000 for research on violence prevention, reducing stigma

Graduate students and early career psychologists are encouraged to apply for APF's Visionary Grants, which seed innovation through supporting research, education, and intervention projects and programs in APF's four priority areas: Understanding and fostering the connection between behavior and physical health to ensure well-being; reducing mental health stigma and prejudice; preventing violence; and addressing the long-term psychological needs of individuals and communities in the aftermath of disaster. Apply by April 1.

$15,000 for research on lesbian, gay or bisexual issues

Students and early career psychologists who are conducting research that has the potential to increase the public's understanding of homosexuality can apply for the American Psychological Foundation's $15,000 Wayne F. Placek Grant. The grant supports empirical studies on any topic that addresses lesbian, gay or bisexual concerns, including prejudice, family or workplace issues, and subgroups of the lesbian and gay population that have been underrepresented in research. Apply by March 1.

$6,000 for couple or family dynamics research

Graduate students who are conducting research that advances theory, assessment or clinical practice in couple, family or multigenerational dynamics can apply for the $6,000 Randy Gerson Memorial Grant from the American Psychological Foundation. APF gives priority to projects that expand Gerson's work. Apply by Feb. 1. 

$2,500 for research on clinical child and adolescent psychology

Graduate students conducting research in clinical child and adolescent psychology can apply for one of four $2,500 Routh Research and Dissertation Grants, sponsored by APA's Div. 53 (Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology). Applicants must be student members of the division, be enrolled in an APA-approved program, and have a dissertation project that has been approved by their advisor and their program faculty. All applications must be submitted electronically with the subject heading "Routh Research and Dissertation Grant." Application details. Apply by March 1.

$1,000 for travel for student members of Div. 16

Graduate student members of APA's Div. 16 (School Psychology) may apply for the Paul E. Henkin School Psychology Travel Grants, which defer the costs of registration, lodging and travel for student members of Div. 16 to attend the APA Annual Convention, held this year Aug. 6-9 in Denver. Apply by April 15. 

$300 for travel to present research

Graduate students may apply for the APA Student Travel Awards and the APF Ungerleider/Zimbardo Travel Scholarships, which help psychology graduate students travel to the APA Annual Convention to present their research. One hundred $300 Student Travel Awards are administered by APA's Science Directorate and seven Ungerleider/Zimbardo Scholarships are administered by APF. Apply by April 1.

Explore psychoanalysis through the Scholars Program

APA's Div. 39 (Psychoanalysis) seeks applications for its Scholars Program, which introduces graduate students and early career psychologists to the division. Selected scholars receive a $500 travel grant to attend the division's annual spring meeting, "Hot and Bothered: Coming Together without Falling Apart," April 6-10 in Atlanta. Scholars also receive the division's newsletter, journal and other publications at no cost. Scholars are also matched with a mentor they meet with once per month. The application deadline is Jan. 19.

Be a reviewer for Translational Issues in Psychological Science®

Graduate students can apply to be a reviewer for the graduate student journal Translational Issues in Psychological Science . To apply, upload a two-page curriculum vitae. The vitae should list a candidate's affiliation, years of training, manuscripts that have been submitted to a peer-reviewed outlet, and experience as a reviewer for peer-reviewed journals or conference submissions. 

Join the APAGS leadership team

APAGS encourages graduate students to apply for elected and appointed positions on the APAGS committee for terms that will begin in August. The open elected positions are chair-elect, member-at-large diversity focus, member-at-large membership focus, member-at-large practice focus, and member-at-large research/academic focus. The two open appointed positions are chair of the Committee for the Advancement of Racial and Ethnic Diversity and chair of the Committee on Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity.

The deadline for elected positions is Jan. 11 and the deadline for appointed positions is March 7. Applicants must be current APAGS members and actively enrolled as graduate psychology students in good standing. Information on each position and application requirements. 

$500 for convention travel

Students can apply for the APAGS Convention Travel Awards to attend APA's Annual Convention in Denver, Aug. 6-9 Students can apply for the APAGS Convention Travel Awards to attend APA's Annual Convention in Denver, Aug. 6-9. Five winners receive $500 to attend the meeting. Preference is given to first-time convention attendees, those with academic or leadership experience, and those who agree to be an APAGS ambassador at the convention. Applications are due April 1.

Apply for the Minority Fellowship Program Summer Institute in Washington, D.C.

APA's Minority Fellowship Program is accepting applications for its Psychology Summer Institute, to be held July 17-23 at APA headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Apply for the Minority Fellowship Program Summer Institute in Washington, D.C. Applications are accepted from Feb. 1 to May 1. The institute provides educational, professional development and mentoring experiences to advanced doctoral students of psychology and psychologists who are in the early stage of their careers. Participants are guided toward developing a grant proposal, postdoctoral fellowship, dissertation, treatment program, publication or program evaluation project. All projects must focus on issues affecting ethnic-minority communities.

Participants will receive one-on-one mentoring on their projects. Expert faculty will present seminars on such topics as grant writing, publishing and specific areas of research or service delivery. The fellowship also offers opportunities to network with representatives from federal agencies and foundations. Apply online .
