Figure 1. Top benefits of using AI in practice
A recent survey of psychologists identified the top perceived benefits of using artificial intelligence (AI) in clinical practice. Over half of respondents (52%) said they didn’t know what the benefits might be, indicating uncertainty or limited familiarity with AI tools. Among those who did identify advantages, the most frequently cited was improved operational efficiency (33%), followed by the ability to summarize published data (21%) and enhance patient education (20%). Smaller percentages noted benefits such as providing clinical decision support (12%), reducing burnout (12%), increasing treatment precision (10%), and improving population care access (9%). Fewer psychologists pointed to early disease detection (6%) or better clinician and patient engagement (5%) as benefits.
