A survey of psychologists revealed several key concerns about the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in practice. The most commonly reported concern, cited by 59% of respondents, was the potential for breaches of sensitive data. Unanticipated social harms and biased input leading to biased output were each reported by 54% of psychologists. Other major concerns included a lack of rigorous testing and validation (51%), lack of transparency in how AI tools function (46%), and inaccurate outputs (44%). Fewer psychologists expressed worry about the replacement of human labor (28%), and 23% indicated they were unsure about potential concerns. These results highlight both ethical and technical anxieties surrounding the integration of AI into clinical settings.
