The APA Division Engagement Office and APA Digital Strategy and Services remind divisions periodically to update awards information on the APA website. In this article, we explain the processes for divisions with APA-hosted and non-APA-hosted websites.

About the awards database
Division award information is maintained as part of the APA database for Grants, Awards, and Funding. This is a great resource for funding, scholarships, honors and awards from APA and other psychology-related organizations. It includes descriptions, eligibility requirements, how to apply, deadlines and past recipients. Of course, it depends entirely on information submitted and maintained by APA Divisions and the other sponsors.
Certain key pieces of information are required to be included in the database and to have a page for that award on the APA website. When we say “required” it’s not an exaggeration; without these pieces of information in the underlying database powering the feature, the award cannot be displayed. The APA Division Engagement Office and APA Digital Strategy and Services ask all divisions to monitor these pages and update them as needed.
Division award pages can be found through the APA Divisions home page, by clicking on the “View all divisions” button, then the division’s name and then the “View the division’s awards” link to the right.
For divisions with APA-hosted websites
To find out which divisions have an APA-hosted website, visit the FAQs about Migrating to an APA-Supported Website and click on the question “What divisions have been migrated and now have websites hosted by APA?” These divisions’ awards are included in the database; they have pages that are part of the division’s and APA’s websites. Website chairs can send updates to the APA Digital Strategy and Services staff. More information is available at APA-supported division websites.
When sending information for an award, divisions with APA-hosted websites need to provide complete information (this may or may not duplicate what you have on your division website):
- Name of award
- Type (award, fellowship, or grant)
- Recipient (see list on the Grants, scholarships, and awards page)
- Sponsor
- Annual deadline
- Description
- Eligibility
For divisions with non-APA-hosted websites
To find out which divisions have a non-APA-hosted website, go to FAQs about Migrating to an APA-Supported Website and click on the question “What divisions have been migrated and now have websites hosted by APA?” Divisions not listed have non-APA-hosted websites. We ask these divisions to check their pages on the APA website and update them as needed. These divisions can submit changes to their division engagement liaison to have them routed to the APA Digital Strategy and Services staff.
When sending changes, please submit a Word document making sure to include the page URL, copy and paste the text from the page and use Track Changes to show the edits.
For divisions with non-APA-hosted websites to share awards on the APA site without having to duplicate the information existing in the division website, they need to submit abbreviated information that includes the following required key pieces of information:
- A brief, two-sentence description of the award, ideally containing some keywords related to the award.
- The annual deadline (do not include the year) to apply and/or nominate someone for the award.
- A link to the division's website where the user can find more information about the award.
Both complete and abbreviated options ensure that the awards are current in the APA awards database, that each award has a page and that the awards are found in searches on the APA website.
