The APA Community has many potential benefits for divisions. One of the most exciting for divisions is a new tool to boost member engagement, presenting an opportunity to increase renewal and retention rates.

Below are two things you can do in your division’s community group as a division leader to help increase member engagement:

Post relevant content. Interaction within your division group may occur organically from members asking questions or sharing information. Other times it’s best to have content ready to keep members engaged. This can include a welcome message from a division leader, posting upcoming event information, asking a question of your members, or sharing a relevant article link. These items will continue to bring dialogue to your group and potentially create increased interactions.

Be interactive. As a leader, it’s helpful to lead by example in an online community. Members will create their own posts or comment on others. To encourage engagement, it’s great for division leaders to reply to comments, answer post questions, and like member posts.  You may also enlist a team of helpers within the division to do the same.

As the APA Community continues to grow and flourish, keep an eye out in the Division Digest for more tips and best practices to help your division’s community group do the same.
