Every year, each division is invited to submit one nomination for the two seats that become available on the Committee on Division/APA Relations (CODAPAR), one of APA’s standing committees made up of six APA members who have extensive background in division leadership.

For the 2026–28 term, CODAPAR welcomes Tatana M. Olson, PhD, and Colleen Stiles-Shields, PhD. As their term begins, each will be assigned to a group of divisions to represent on the committee. Meet each new member below.

Tatana M. Olson, PhD

Tatana M. Olson, PhD Olson is an active-duty Navy officer currently serving as the commanding officer of the Naval Submarine Medical Research Laboratory in Groton, Connecticut. In this role, she oversees a diverse research portfolio focused on the development of innovative solutions to enhance the health and performance of Navy submariners and divers. She earned a BS in psychology from Virginia Tech and a MS and PhD in industrial and organizational psychology from Purdue University and completed post-doctoral training in Cognitive Neuroscience at George Mason University. Her primary areas of research include personnel screening, assessment, and selection, team performance, and leadership development. Her work has included managing the assessment and selection program for Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard aviators, developing the first-of-its-kind selection test battery for Navy unmanned aerial systems operators, and overseeing the screening and professional development program for Navy submariners. Olson is a past president of Division 19 and will be assuming a new role in January 2026 serving on CODAPAR.

Colleen Stiles-Shields, PhD

Colleen Stiles-Shields, PhD Stiles-Shields is an assistant professor at the Institute for Juvenile Research in the department of psychiatry at the University of Illinois Chicago. She earned her BA in psychology from DePaul University, MA in social work from the University of Chicago, MS and PhD in clinical psychology from Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, and a certificate of advanced study in bioethics and health policy from Loyola University Chicago. Her research focuses on increasing access to evidence-based care via innovative, nontraditional service models. Namely, her work primarily focuses on digital mental health (DMH) design and adaptation for pediatric populations and their families, with a focus towards increasing engagement through codesign and harnessing naturalistic spaces (i.e., implementing in spaces young people already spend their time and engaging them with tools and digital spaces they already visit). She has been the PI and contributor to multiple grants funded by the National Institute of Mental Health. These experiences have directly contributed to her >80 peer-reviewed publications and have established her skills in pediatric psychology, healthcare access, human-centered design methods, implementation science, and ethics specific to pediatric DMH. She has also been recognized for her achievements through graduate and early career awards from the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, the Association of Psychologists in Academic Health Centers, the International Society for Research on Internet Interventions, the Society for a Science of Clinical Psychology, and the Society for Pediatric Psychology (Division 54). Stiles-Shields has previously served as an appointed member of the Division 54 Board while cochairing (2023) and chairing (2024) division content at the APA Annual Convention.
