Division 52 recently changed its name to the Society for Global Psychology (previously International Psychology). We changed our name in order to better reflect a more inclusive, less nation- and US-centric view of psychology and psychologists. The name change is meant to communicate more clearly that we do not intend to colonize the world of psychology, but instead to create a community that elevates the voices, expertise, and scientific contributions of all.
SGP has started posting article abstractsopens in new window from our journal, International Perspectives in Psychology: Research, Practice, Consultation (IPP), with the DOIs and APA style citations included. Users can choose from among 12 languages in which to read the abstracts – as readers may do on every other webpage. Additional languages can be added as people let us know what they prefer. We have included the citations in order to encourage scholars and researchers across the globe to read and cite our articles. Working with our editor, we are continually striving to increase our journal’s usefulness as indicated by citations, submissions, and readership. Our publisher, Hogrefe, has submitted an application for an impact factor, and our Hogrefe website lists both the most read and most cited articles. Open Access articles are noted as part of Hogrefe’s participation in the open access publishing pilot for the American Psychological Association’s PsycArticles database in 2024-2026.
Special Issues of IPP have focused on issues of current global impact. The most recent are:

Look for more special issues in the coming months.
The Society for Global Psychology has enjoyed the leadership of Dr. Ines Myers for almost five years as editor of our journal. As her term ends, we have put out a call for applications to become the next editor. The deadline for applications was May 31, 2025. If you are interested in serving as a journal reviewer, contact Hogrefe. Manuscripts may be submitted for review onlineopens in new window.
Our journals will be just a portion of the SGP materials soon to be stored at the Cummings Center for the History of Psychology at the University of Akron. The board decided to store the division’s historical materials there at our midwinter meeting, and we have begun the process of moving electronic and paper documents to the Center. If you have materials you think should be included, please contact SGP President Dr. Martha S. Zlokovich.
