To become a fellow in APA, members of APA must apply for this status through a division. They will then become a fellow of APA and of the division they applied through. In addition, those who are already APA fellows may also want to be a fellow in your division.

See “Encourage members to apply for fellow status” to learn more about the fellow application process.

You can easily access a list of members in your division who are fellows of APA. Using the Division Leadership Portal—Roster Report, you can get the list and invite them to become a fellow of your division. The division leadership roles with access to the portal are president, president-elect, past president, secretary, treasurer, membership chair, listserv administrator, and executive director/administrative officer.

The list you’ll be pulling will consist of members or dues exempt members in your division who are fellows in APA but not fellows of your division. Here’s how to do that:

  • Pull up the current roster through the leadership portal.
  • In the Detail View, look for the filter at the top called “Division Reporting Member Type—Current” and select “Member” and “Dues Exempt Member” from the drop-down options.
  • Export the list.
  • In your exported list, filter for “Is APA Fellow” set to True and “Is Division Fellow” set to False.
  • You now have your list to work from.

To access the Division Leadership Portal and check for current membership status of your division members, go to the https://insights.apa.org/dlpopens in new window (this is a new web address, so please bookmark) and log in using the email address tied to your membership (Note: it is case sensitive). You can access the user guide within the portal, or contact your account liaison for more information or assistance.

In addition, be sure to read “What you need to know about emailing division members.”
