Can you tell me a little about your background?

ImHan Kim, JD, MS I am thrilled to join the Office of General Counsel at APA and support APA divisions. My legal career, spanning 11 years, has primarily focused on serving as in-house counsel in the pharmaceutical and healthcare research industry. In my last role, I held the position of senior counsel at the United States Pharmacopeial Convention, which is a membership-based nonprofit organization with active volunteer bodies. Prior to pursuing a career in law, I worked in mental health, and I also served in the United States Navy.

What is your position in the Office of General Counsel (OGC), and what are your duties?

As associate general counsel, my responsibilities include working in several substantive legal areas, including intellectual property, privacy, complex contracting, and publishing-related legal issues. I will also work closely with APA divisions to provide counseling on contracts, publications, governance, and any other legal matters supporting division functions.

What do you enjoy doing outside of the office or what else should we know about you?

I recently transplanted to Richmond, Virgina, after spending most of my life between D.C. and the Pacific Northwest. When I'm not busy chasing after my little ones, you'll find me indulging my love for all things outdoors (all year and all weather!), tending my garden, and dining out.

How can division leaders reach you if they have questions or would like to work with you?

Please feel free to contact me directly at (202) 336-6095 or via email. I would be delighted to hear from division leaders and learn more about their work.
