What do you value most about being a clinical psychologist?

J. Kim Penberthy, PhD, ABPP What I value most about being a clinical psychologist is the deep connection I get to form with people as they navigate some of the most challenging times in their lives. I love being able to combine my passion for science with my desire to help others, using evidence-based approaches to make a meaningful difference. I find joy in helping individuals uncover their strengths, manage difficulties, and improve their well-being. The opportunity to contribute to research, especially in areas like mindfulness and consciousness, is also deeply rewarding, allowing me to advance the field while fostering healing.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself

A fun fact about me is that I am a beekeeper. I had beehives growing up on our farm and have always valued keeping bees and find them to be very therapeutic. My husband and I spend many relaxing evenings sitting by the hives and listening and watching as they come and go with their pollen.
