A thoughtfully constructed marketing plan can be the key to ensuring success. Consider the following next time you want to promote a webinar, continuing education opportunities, meeting, awards, or other types of news and events.
- Start your promotions early. Print publications often require a lead time of three months or more. The sooner you start, the more chances there will be for people to see what you’re promoting.
- Use multiple channels. For instance, your website, listserv, APA resources, social media, and division influencers (speakers, VIP members, others who support your division).
- Run an email campaign with multiple touch points.
- Share testimonials from past attendees. A great way to secure testimonials is to pull from previous evaluations, or simply to ask individuals to share their experience.
- Make it easy to participate. Share clear instructions on how register/join/access what you are offering.
You can also tap into these resources APA provides:
- Email your division members. Read “What you need to know about emailing division members‟ and use the Division Leadership Portalopens in new window (audience: your division members and former members).
- Share division news in Division Digest. Use the Division Digest Submission Formopens in new window. This form also has an option to share on the APA Events Calendar (audience: division leaders and APA website visitors).
If you have any questions, contact your division engagement liaison.
