About APA

Barbara V. Ward-Zimmerman, PhD, was awarded a Presidential Citation for her diligence and perseverance in the creation and launch of the Integrated Primary Care Course, to support psychology training programs offering curriculum on integrated primary care.

As co-chair of the Integrated Primary Care Sub-committee of the APA Society of Health Psychology (Div. 38), Ward-Zimmerman tirelessly worked to ensure the successful completion and launch of the Integrated Primary Care Course. This course provides the psychology training community with a critical resource to train future psychologists in integrated primary care and will raise awareness of and interest in integrated primary care for years to come. Though the course was the work of many, it was Ward-Zimmerman's leadership and persistent efforts that moved the course forward. Her lifelong work in pediatric integrated care as a clinician, consultant and teacher reflects her overarching dedication to meeting the needs of vulnerable children and their families. Ward-Zimmerman serves as a role model for future psychologists who will be inspired to pursue a career in integrated primary care.
