Bermuda College is awarded a Presidential Citation in recognition of their critical national leadership in higher education and their ongoing service and support for students and employees throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
As the only higher education institution in Bermuda, Bermuda College is committed to serving its students through numerous academic and workforce development programs on the island and through the more than 30 partnerships it has established with 4-year institutions overseas. In addition to their dedication to the academic and professional growth of their students, Bermuda College prioritizes overall wellbeing through its Career and Counseling Center (CCC), which offers counseling, workshops, accessibility services, financial support services, and student activities.
Notably, Bermuda College took great measures to support both staff and students throughout the COVID-19 global pandemic. Some of these extraordinary efforts include establishing critical partnerships to ensure students and staff had access to the resources required to engage in virtual learning, raising over $800K of additional financial aid to assist students, and offering wellness content online to support mental and physical wellbeing. Crucially, Bermuda College CCC counselors also completed TeleMental Health Training to ensure continuity of care.
For exemplary dedication to the provision of mental health support, financial assistance, and critical infrastructure for learning in challenging circumstances, I am honored to award Bermuda College a Presidential Citation.
