The Bermuda Psychology Association is presented with a Presidential Citation for their outstanding efforts on behalf of their membership and their outstanding use of psychology to support all Bermudans.
The Bermuda Psychology Association (BPA) serves to advance psychology as a science and profession, to facilitate the growth and development of psychology, to contribute to quality psychological service delivery and to advocate on behalf of the field and the public. Additionally, it provides leadership opportunities for member psychologists and actively engages in collaboration.
BPA has boosted the capacity of local psychologists through provision of workshops on important topics, such as tele-assessment and fear and trauma, the latter in collaboration with partners such as Mt. Zion AME Church, the Bermuda College, and Dr. Thema Bryant. The Bermudan Psychological Association has also made psychology more accessible to the local populace through initiatives such as a their webpage on emotional well-being tips. BPA stands out, in particular, for the creation and publication of a directory of psychologists available to assist the community in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, ultimately initiating a mental health hotline staffed by members and other local psychologists.
For their advancement of psychology in their country, I am pleased to present this Presidential Citation to the Bermuda Psychology Association.
