Cedric L. Alexander, PsyD, was awarded a Presidential Citation for his commitment to enhancing public safety through public discourse.
Alexander's lifelong work in psychology and law enforcement reflects his commitment to increasing public education and ensuring public safety. The manner in which he has integrated his understanding of how people think, feel and relate to one another into law enforcement has been truly transformative. As he served the public in various local, state and federal law enforcement roles, Alexander used his psychological training and talents to enhance leadership and teamwork, address and reduce racism, and ensure law enforcement officers were trained to communicate and collaborate with the communities they served. In each role, Alexander has transformed underperforming groups of individuals into high functioning teams with a shared mission. As past president of the National Organization of Law Enforcement Executives and a media commentator on race relations and community policing, he has seized the opportunity to be the voice of reason in tumultuous times.
