About APA

Le Ondra Clark Harvey, PhD, was awarded a Presidential Citation for her visionary advocacy on behalf of our nation’s citizens, and her mentoring of young colleagues who follow in her footsteps.

Clark Harvey has been an inspirational role model for the next generation of psychologists by highlighting the importance of being personally involved in shaping our nation’s social policies. She is the chief policy consultant of the State of California Assembly Committee on Business and Professions, which oversees more than 40 of the state’s licensing boards including the Board of Psychology. The first minority female to be appointed to this important leadership position, she is passionately committed to ensuring that far-reaching public policy decisions that impact the lives of real people will be based upon the best scientific evidence available. Clark Harvey is an alumna of the APA Minority Fellowship Program. She currently serves as co-chair of the APA Committee for Early Career Psychologists, is a member of the Conflict of Interest Work Group, and Secretary of the Association of Black Psychologists. Clark Harvey is the recipient of APA’s Emerging Professional Contributions to Service Award, the Jeffrey S. Tanaka Memorial Dissertation Award in Psychology, and the Carolyn Patton Early Career Award. She spends countless hours reaching out to young colleagues, mentoring and educating them about the difference they can make in shaping our society’s priorities.
