Sue Frantz, MA, was awarded a Presidential Citation for her dedication, innovation and imagination in translating psychological science for the public by educating thousands of undergraduates.
To begin to know Frantz, read a banner on her Highline Community College website: “Education is not a form of entertainment, but a means of empowering people to take control of their lives.” She is living out that creed; she educates Highline’s students and faculty. Her knowledge of instructional design/technology and willingness to share it with others has profoundly impacted psychology instruction nationally. She created and managed the Teaching of Psychology Idea Exchange and currently is vice president for resources. Her presentations and blogs on technology are cutting edge and major resources. Sue’s scholarly publications bespeak her tireless commitment to preparing the next generation of behavior scientists. Sue chaired APA’s Psychology Teachers at Community Colleges Committee, is chair of APA’s Membership Board, and deservedly received the APA Excellence in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning at a Two-Year College or Campus Award.
