This Presidential Citation is being awarded to Jennifer F. Kelly, PhD, ABPP, for her outstanding service to the profession of psychology.
Kelly’s service includes federal advocacy coordinator, president of the Georgia Psychological Association, GPA’s council representative to APA, chair of the Board for the Advancement of Psychology in the Public Interest, president of APA’s Division of State, Provincial, and Territorial Psychological Association Affairs, chair of the Board of Professional Affairs, and recording secretary and co-chair of APA’s Advocacy Coordinating Committee. In Atlanta, she has served on the boards of several nonprofit organizations. Kelly has advocated for all of psychology especially the health care of our patients. She has embraced diversity in the broadest sense possible. She has shown leadership even during the most difficult times in APA’s history at both the state and national levels. While taking care of individuals with chronic health conditions for 25 years, she has worked diligently to support psychologists as participants and leaders in all of health care.
Kelly has been described in the APA Monitor as a “grassroots go-getter” and has been acknowledged by others for her leadership, including through the 2011 APA State Leadership Award. In her tireless efforts to support marginalized and vulnerable populations with her dynamic personality, authentic empathy and visionary perspective of health care and society, she has produced results at both the individual and organizational levels.
I am pleased to present this Presidential Citation to Kelly because she is a visionary leader, a compassionate healer, an organizational beacon and a wonderful human being.
