About APA

Judith Blanton, PhD, was awarded a Presidential Citation for her tireless work on behalf of applied and clinical psychologists.

Blanton’s superlative career in consulting psychology has fueled broad perspective on forging needed change where regulators, legislators and peers may not appreciate the need for change. She contributed a consulting psychologist’s perspective to the APA Model Practice Act, was a work group member developing the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Board’s Compact, and is an advocate for licensure for consulting psychologists. When there is a difficult and complex legislative issue requiring persistence and tenacity to effect change, Blanton is often leading the effort. Blanton served on the APA Council of Representatives for both California and Div. 13 (Society of Consulting Psychology), was a member of the Strategic Planning Advisory Committee, and serves on the Editorial Advisory Boards for The Fundamentals of Consulting Psychology and The Consulting Psychology Journal. Judy is the coach’s coach. She is able to frame the most difficult messages in ways that clients and colleagues can hear and act upon positively. As such, Judy Blanton is a role model’s role model.
